Couch to 5k, week 1: day 2

well tonight was easier than last time!
I found my 'stride' again about half way through the run.  Watching the moon on the ocean wasn't too bad either ;-)

5k look out

Whats for dinner?

confession- I got a pizza stone for my shower more than a year ago-it remained in the box until tonight.  what did I learn? pizza stones rock!!
after letting my stone preheat with my oven (to avoid cracking) I used a flat edge cookie sheet to transfer my pizza to it- 10 minutes later- crispy crusted goodness!
I used whole wheat dough (whole foods) to avoid guilt ;-)
next I layered part skim mozzarella sprinkled with freshly ground parm.
I added a fresh tomato, proscuitto, and caramelized onions (saute in butter until transparent add sugar) and fresh thyme
baked at 500 for 10 minutes and voila!

Flea Market find

This weekend, Hub, Schnauzer and I went on an adventure to a new flea market.  Among other wonderful things like a fab vintage robins egg blue bicycle and a bedazzled portrait of Jesus- I found these!

They will go above my TV- I have been admiring a set from PB- but there was no way I was paying $160 bucks for old oars- I live on the freakin ocean!
these beauties were $20

couch to 5k

In a moment of insanity I signed up for a 5k on August 2nd. Luckily I have some fab friends and cousins running with me to keep me motivated.
Today I began training using the couch to 5k program
During week one- you run 60 seconds, then walk 90 seconds.  It is an 8 week program.  You gradually increase run time and decrease walk time until you run the entire 30 mins (3.2 miles)

So fitted with my brand new sports bra and orthopedic running shoes (which by the way totally look like regular running shoes) I hit the trails.  Also, in an attempt to motivate myself, I hit the Kohls midnight madness sale at 11 pm last night and scored some adorable running shorts and tanks for 75% off! score!

Another cool thing about this program is that there is an ap for iphone that allows you to listen to your own music- but gives your cues of when to run and when to walk.
heres to fitness!

off to Mumsie's house to celebrate with lobster ;-)

Trunk phase 2

This wonderful old trunk has a new coat of paint.  I didn't want to lose all of its rustic charm so I only whitewashed the wood accents and then took sandpaper to them.

find of the century at the flea market

Today I found this amahzing trunk at the Todd Farm Flea Market in Rowley.  Can you believe I scored this beauty for only $15??
Unfortunately, the color does not go with my bedroom theme- so I am going to whitewash it tomorrow.
The guy who sold me it claims its about 100 years old :-)
